Cities Where Inflation is Highest

Though signs of inflation slowing are evident, it has been an economic factor for many months now. Year-over-year inflation was 6% in February. To measure how inflation rates compare in cities across the country, personal finance website WalletHub has released its report on the “Cities Where Inflation is Rising the Most.”

Researchers examined where inflation is rising the most by comparing 22 major MSAs across two key metrics involving the Consumer Price Index, which measures inflation. They compared the Consumer Price Index for the latest month for which BLS data is available to two months prior and one year prior to get a snapshot of how inflation has changed in the short and long term.
